I am the family historian for a local branch of the Delong family. If you think you may be related, try these links:

Music - Groups

I am an amateur musician; I play the mandolin, guitar, violin and recorder. Here are some of the musical organizations in which I have taken part:

  • Bobby Watson and the Crown Royals, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. at the Puck 'n'Pint, Peterborough, Ontario (still going, but without me now)
  • Downeyville Music Circle, occasional Thursday evenings (currently suspended)
  • Friday Celtic Sessions at the Village Inn, Bowmanville, Ontario (cancelled after eight years)
  • Celtic Fiddle Jam at the Cat and Fiddle, Lindsay, Ontario. Alternate Mondays at 7:00 p.m. (all done now)
  • Rosewood Bluegrass Band (sadly disbanded after five years)
  • Peterborough Celtic Jam, 1st Sunday afternoon of each month at the Black Horse Pub (homeless after 17 years)
  • Kawartha Kitchen Party Jams - Saturday afternoons at various pubs and restaurants in Kawartha Lakes, Durham and York regions. (Sadly disanded after the death of its organizer, Gerry Mitchell)

Music - Tunes

I have created two books of fiddle tunes - some composed by me, some traditional ones that I like. Some recent tunes are not yet available.

These books may be purchased at Wilson and Lee Music in Oshawa, Ontario or at Shmoozic music shop in Baltimore, Ontario.

For many years I wrote educational software in my spare time. Programming can be a frustrating hobby, especially with the old unstructured BASIC which I used to use (before switching to C), so I once took a break and wrote a Really Corny Blues Song about it.

While I rarely do any programming now, I am still a member of the Durham Personal Computer Users' Club. The club publishes a monthly newsletter, and the website has reviews of free software.
